Kristen Matsick

Throughout my life I have been drawn to this work because I have seen how powerful it can be to have a safe space to be heard and supported. I experienced an early personal exposure to the impact of therapy which has inspired my path into this field. Therapy offers room to slow down, make sense of your experiences and begin the journey into healing and growth in a safe space.

I earned both my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Kutztown University in Social Work along with certification in Behavioral Health. I am certified in TF-CBT, Solution Focused Therapy, and have completed advanced training in Perinatal Mental Health. Prior to my education as a therapist, I gained experience working with school aged neurodivergent children. My training and early career have focused on supporting women and children, particularly those navigating trauma and life transitions. Additionally, I interned at a residential facility serving women with children in a mother baby house who had experienced trafficking and complex trauma, which shaped my commitment to trauma-informed, compassionate care. In my Master’s program I completed my internship at a private practice who specialized in perinatal and children’s mental health, where I was lucky enough to work closely with women and children and a vast array of individuals. This experience deepened my passion for women’s mental health, including reproductive and hormonal health concerns such as PCOS, endometriosis, PMDD and a vast array of other women’s issues. In addition to working with women and children, I gained experience supporting clients from a wide range of backgrounds, ages, and life experiences.

After completing my education and internship, I gained further experience working as a women’s trauma therapist, helping clients process complex trauma, rebuild self-trust, and reconnect with their strengths. This role allowed me to further refine my trauma work and deepen my dedication to supporting individuals’ healing. I work with children, adolescents, and adults navigating trauma, anxiety, neurodivergence, identity development, and life transitions.

My approach is based in allowing people space to feel safe and grounded and is rooted in trauma informed care and strength based interventions. I draw from CBT, DBT, TF-CBT, and solution-focused techniques, depending on the individual needs of the person as I come from a person centered approach. I also work from a holistic approach to care and hope to create a warm collaborative space where you can be supported to grow.
